Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Government and arm’s length government organizations present a distinctive environment in which to communicate with citizens about programs, policies and services. The breadth of topics, the different audiences and stakeholders, the taxpayers interest and the media all contribute to how governments communicate and engage with the public. This panel will include the communications and engagement perspectives of the BC Government, the City of Victoria, the Victoria Police Department and BC Transit. John Barry, Mike Russell, Katie Hamilton, Brooke Finnigan, Matt Reed will compare and contrast their organization’s purpose for using social media, when they prefer to engage face to face, how they integrate between channels, and their different approaches to managing content, privacy and risks in a political and complex environment.
