Keynote Address by Marc Stoiber - Ready! Fire! Aim!
Limited Capacity seats available

Ready! Fire! Aim!

No, social is not going to save the world of marketing – no more than online, ambient, guerrilla or content did. Social is just a tactic (albeit a very good one). Unfortunately, marketers have a penchant for new tactics - many have jumped wholeheartedly into social without thinking it through, and many have paid a high price.

What will save marketing is refocusing on why your product deserves to live, and why consumers should care. Call it the brand, call it the essence, call it what you will. It’s the stuff that sets you apart from, and above the competition.

So how do you build an effective brand, and then use social to amplify it properly? That’s what I’m here to discuss.

Connecting the Streams - The Future of Social is Omni-channel
Marketers have focused much of their time and energy into social media over the the last few years. Whilst many brands have built large followings, their social media programs are not aligned with other business functions. In this presentation, Jas Dhaliwal shares his experiences and the discusses the differences between the multi-channel and omni-channel for social media. The Dark Social: The Future of Sharing

As social media fatigue takes hold and more worries about privacy hit consumers we see the social media landscape changing. A recent study has found that 59% of all content sharing activity occurs via ‘Dark Social’, a place with no formal social network beyond true word-of-mouth, IM, SMS and email. This is the way that social will go in the next 3 to 5 years: underground.

This talk will help you understand this phenomenon, get an idea of where it is going and give you practical advice on how to identify it and integrate measurement into your social media measurement frameworks.

#SMCamp Mixer
The Social Media Awards have been moved to later in the year for 2015, but don't think for a moment that'll make Friday night any less fun!

We are pleased to present the #SMCamp Mixer ... an opportunity to casually meet with old friends, new friends, and some of the speakers and sponsors involved with this year's event.

Admission is free for registered attendees of Social Media Camp (please bring your badge), but we've invited our charity partner to be on hand collecting donations (we recommend $10 per person).

There will be a cash bar open (note: dinner is not being served).

We will dim the lights, set the mood, have some subtle background music, and let you mix and mingle the night away.

Closeby, but not too close (and certainly less civilized), Paul Holmes will be hosting the karaoke room in Salon B at 8pm.

Now don't panic! If you are disinclined to partake of the karaoke madness, it's OK, we totally understand (well, at least Chris understands).

The room separator between Salon A and B will be closed, so you'll only be forced to hear karaoke if you wander over there accidentally, or start feeling a little adventurous...

Keynote Address by Lisa Larter - Facebook Relationship Marketing for Serious Business Results

Perhaps social media is consuming your life and you are not quite understanding exactly how to make it work so that you can increase sales and profits in your business.  You know (because experts have told you) that relationship marketing is one of the fastest ways to build and grow a business today.

But what does that mean? How do you actually do that?  And how do you do it in a way that feels like you are acting with integrity?

Learn how to stop incessantly consuming other people’s content, get over FOMO (fear of missing out) and take control of social media so you can expand your network, drive traffic to your website, build your list in a way that does’t feel like a 1980’s car salesman and increase sales and profits in your business.

Relationship marketing isn’t what it once was.

Today you need to fully understand how to utilize Facebook ads to connect with the RIGHT people in order to get the results you are looking for.

Not only are Facebook ads the new “gold rush” for many business owners, others are quietly mining Facebook groups to cultivate strong relationships that allow them to really build their business.

You will walk away with newfound knowledge on how to utilize modern marketing techniques to build relationships and your business.

Why You Should Think Twice Before Shaming Someone Online
Social media has given us all more of a voice than we have ever had - and we're using it, for better or worse. Unfortunately it has become all too common to use that voice to shame someone we think deserves it.

From the "Shit Parkers of Victoria" Facebook page to the @yesyoureracist Twitter account and #HasJustineLandedYet, there are no shortage of ways to call people out for questionable behaviour.

Occasionally the shamer becomes the shamed. Is this enough reason to think twice before shaming someone online - maybe, but there's more.  Sometimes situations are not as clear cut as they appear and the repercussions of our actions can be long lasting.

In this eye-opening session Chris disects some well-known cases that have a lot more to them than meet the eye.

One sure-fire LinkedIn Strategy that will increase engagement & business income!

Did you know that LinkedIn has over 350 million members?  11,918,492 of which are currently residing in Canada.  That’s over a 1/3 of Canada’s population on and using LinkedIn.  Why?  Because it is absolutely the most powerful social network for business professionals.  Period.

According to LinkedIn’s “The Sophisticated Marketer’s Guide to LinkedIn”:

  • 91% of digital marketers believe LinkedIn to be the #1 channel to distribute content
  • LinkedIn drives more traffic to B2B Blogs and Sites than Twitter, Facebook and G+ combined
  • 93% of B2B Marketers consider LinkedIn to be the most effective site for Lead Gen

ROI (Return on Investment) is important - but what about the COI (cost of inaction)? How much is your lack of activity on LinkedIn costing your business every year? In my break-out (and break-through) training, I will be sharing one sure-fire strategy, that you can implement immediately, which will absolutely increase your engagement, visibility and business on LinkedIn.  I will walk you, step-by-step, through the actions you need to take to begin to truly engage on LinkedIn in a effective way.  I guarantee that by the end of this training session, if you take action, you will see a vast improvement on your LinkedIn engagement.

How to Dominate a Market & Drive Business Value Using Social Media & Content Marketing

92% of B2B purchasers and influencers would engage with a sales representative who posses thought leadership (LinkedIn survey of 1,500 B2B purchasers and influencers, September 2014). Let’s face it: We’re all interested in dominating and leading in a market. Nobody sets out to just achieve incremental gain. So where to begin?

Citrix and /newsrooms have partnered across North America to build a social media-driven content marketing program called The Innovator’s Guide to the Future of Work. It has become a framework for continuous testing and learning in order to draw in GoToMeeting’s target audience of startups, entrepreneurs and SMBs. What started as a Twitter chat in Canada has evolved into a program that has dominated the topic and now draws international audiences.

The Innovator’s Guide to the Future of Work tracks user behaviours, interests, and audience profiles. Once we understand those along with the challenges the audience face, content can be tailored to attract the target audience and ultimately to analyze and start to identify triggers that can be used to drive product trial, use, and purchase.

This framework is built for social media, it’s journalistically driven, and informed constantly by data. Marketers + journalists working together can build trust and authority with an audience to achieve measurable business results.

The Integration of Traditional and Digital Media
A "disruptive innovation" is one that helps create a new market, while disrupting the one before. In this sense, Social Media, and Digital Media more broadly, are clearly "disruptive innovations." Perhaps no industry has been more disrupted than those in the "traditional media" category.

For traditional media companies that have adapted well to the changes, this as a new era with new opportunities. Not just opportunities to bring on new clients, and better serve old ones, but also integrating traditional media and digital media into a powerful marketing combination.

You may have seen examples of this ... While streaming digital radio, a banner for the radio ad you are listening to pops up in your app. While watching the news, context-sensitive ads appear (inside, or outside of the video). We've even seen magazines come to life with video, links, and other expanded content online.

This panel will talk about these and other innovations, and more specifically how an advertiser can understand and take advantage of the opportunities that come with integrated media companies.
